This post is all about bridal touch-up kits! Want to up-level your client experience? We have had nothing but positive feedback on our little pouches. Because it became very apparent that there are certain items brides are going to need throughout their wedding day to maintain the look created, I created them for our clients. We want your makeup to stay as flawless as it originally was, and that is why touching up is imperative! Additionally, we add some items for those unforeseeable emergencies, a broken dress strap, spinach stuck in the teeth. These problems are no a brainer with the right emergency repair tools!
While every company will have varying business practices, (some may not, or may include touch up kits in bridal/bridesmaids/mother of the bride packages), I’m going to show you the way we do it at Beauty En Route. I do include these kits free of charge in bridal, bridesmaids and grad bookings. Granted, for mother of the bride and non-bridal bookings, we supply a lip only touch up kit.
In terms of the touch of kits themselves, I’ve decided to go custom, with a touch of luxury. However, when just starting out, it’s best to keep the costs down as you grow your business. On a more basic level, you can find all these items on Amazon, or at Dollarama. This way, you don’t have to buy in massive bulk. When I am creating token’s of appreciations for my clients, I often think about what quality and aesthetic I would want for myself. To this end, I went feminine and elegant. Total neutral vibes with touches of metallic keeps it classy for the wedding day!
In sum, I’m going to run through a list of a few different items that I include in the touch up kit and why. Firstly, I’ll talk about the bag. I decided to go with a white chiffon bag, because I want the client to be able to see the products through it. As a bride, you don’t want to go rummaging through, or dumping out completely, the contents when hastily searching for a q-tip! Previously, I used a brown paper bag, but I was finding that it was both breaking at the seams and also difficult to spot the right item. For my current bags, I added custom gold foil branding for that elevated touch!
The first item I have included inside is a straw. These are really important if you’ve already done the lipstick. Lipstick needs to stay fresh, thus, the client should use a straw while sipping champagne with her gal pals prior to walking down the aisle.
For their happy tears, I include tissues. Naturally, weddings are an emotional time for the bride and her guests! I create a custom package of tissues for each wedding. This is just my take, however, you can buy individually wrapped Kleenex for your clients. I find custom to be economically friendly, and personal. Although, it does take a little bit of time to create for each wedding.
A few Q-tips are also added. These are a pretty obvious item to have on a wedding day. Shimmy one into the corner of your eye to suck up any tears, or use them to repair makeup.
For the oily client, I include blotting papers. You could put an entire package in, but I’ve chosen to make this custom blotting paper holder with a ink stamp. This way, I only include a few sheets.
Also, I include a touch of powder duo. First, a container with a little sifter and some translucent setting powder at the base. Second, the mini beauty blender. The blender can be used two way. Either to blot on more powder, or if wet, can be used to revive separating foundation.
In addition, I include a custom lip product in a little pink jar. Inside, you’ll find your lip product. Pairing this with a few little disposable wands, you can now reapply without buying your own specific lipstick.
To maintain a nice smile, we can’t forget a toothpick! One mint infused flossing stick is added to the bridal touch-up kits.
For emergencies I always include a few safety pins, rose-gold to stay on-brand.
A mini mirror is not essential. Nevertheless, it’s a nice touch to give the client anyway. Ours is branded with our logo and can come in handy. You may be surprised, but phones don’t always cut it in the low light situation.
Eyelash glue is pretty imperative to include in a touch-up kit. Any lash corners that might come poking up from tearing up, or excessive sweat may need to be repaired. You never know with lashes!
A makeup wipe to finish off the night. Maybe, the client is so over wearing their bright lip, or it’s the end of the night and they are ready to crash in bed. The makeup wipe can be a saving grace in these moments!
When it comes to hair, if the client has booked that as well, we will also include a mini hairspray, bobby pins, (that match their hair colour) and small elastics.
The mentioned list above is ever-evolving, as we continue to understand new problems brides may face. Our goal is to make their wedding day as seamless as possible. Throughout my career, or just in life situations in general, I quickly noticed the more we as people pay attention to detail, and show we care by going the extra mile, the better connections we make. Our clients deserve the BEST. They deserve the most full, fun and luxurious experience possible! This is why bridal touch-up kits are key to our business.
